Dr. Maddox earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama. During his third-year medical student rotation, he quickly knew that he wanted to specialize in orthopedics. He loved the work and observed that all of the orthopedic physicians he was working alongside were genuinely happy in their field. He remained at UAB to complete his orthopaedic surgery training. While at UAB, Dr. Maddox was awarded The Kurt Nieman Award for Most Outstanding Orthopaedic Surgery Resident. He was also involved in clinical research.
Dr. Maddox, following in his father’s footsteps, joined Southern Bone & Joint Specialists in 2011. He specializes in neck fusions and minimally invasive back fusions. Not only does his training add value to the medical community in the Wiregrass, but his compassion for his patients is invaluable.
A native of Dothan, Alabama, Dr. Maddox lives in Dothan with his wife, Abby, and their five children, Pace, Mary Aplin, Jay Paul, Mae, and Clive. During his time away from work, Dr. Maddox enjoys spending time with his family as well as songwriting, playing the guitar and banjo, horseback riding, hunting, fishing, running, and cycling.
