Dr. Abildgaard is a very kind and understanding doctor who offers solutions outside of medication to help. I really like his medical style and he is helping me with my shoulder issue!

After spending less than FIVE minutes with me, he seemed quite irritated when I mentioned going to PT (that he suggested) might be an issue with my work. He definitely shut down after that and basically just walked out. Clearly having a stressful and demanding job was irritating to him; though not sure what it was about me that caused just an attitude. And I didn’t say I wouldn’t go, just that it would be problematic. I felt disrespected and dismissed. I work with over 500 lawyers, and even they don’t treat me that way! Horrible experience.

I schedule two different appointments only for both Jeff and Shane tell me the same thing. They also wanted to schedule me a third appointment before my surgery and when I asked what fit and it was said to get crutches and a brace I have both already. Then they stated it’s to go over the surgery which we already did.

Waited 45 minutes after taken into the exam room. Dr was visibly annoyed when he came into the room. He cut me off when explaining my symptoms. He asked if he could speak frankly, I said yes. He asked why are you even here? Demeanor and body language clearly irritated. Needs to learn bedside manner. I would never go back.

I would highly recommend Dr. Abildgaard. He is extremely knowledgeable and has an excellent bedside manner. We liked him right away when he started treating my daughter for an ACL injury/tear. He took his time to explain all options and we are thrilled with the results of the surgery. We have never felt rushed during appointments, he takes the time to answer questions and give honest information and feedback. While I hope no one else in my family will need his services, he will be first call should we need his expertise.

Dr. entered the room without any paperwork. No review of the x-rays or MRI (Knee: major problems). I had to give him a hard copy of the MRI for an explanation. Due to my age my fate was predetermined before he walked into the room. (Dr. comments not verbatim) Dr. sat down, folded his arms…What’s going on? I explained what happened…told him that I was an active senior & glad that he was a sports medicine doctor. Dr: People who come here & say that expect to have surgery … Surgery is not an option for someone your age or somebody even 60…if you don’t like my opinion you can get a second opinion… I asked what do I do now…how do I do activities? Dr: You can do rehab & wear a brace…. I asked how long & he replied: As long as it takes… Dr. turns to leave & said someone will bring you a brace & walked out – no good bye, no nice meeting you comment, & nothing about a future appointment. My husband & I were shocked by Dr. Abildgaard’s insolence, rudeness, and lack of civility.

All I will say is he is Extremely good at his job.

Came across as knowledgeable and experienced as he diagnosed it immediately but didn't communicate enough information. Never shared the results of the four xrays and did not provide any treatment suggestions other than PT- such as use/avoid use of shoulder, ice/heat, creams, supplements, etc. Did not encourage any communication between us. I had to completely take the lead.

Not personable, won't even pretend to laugh at your jokes and you can forget about a smile. Not very informative and when describing your options everything is very matter of fact and he will not ease your mind in making a decision. His assistant made me feel dumb for even asking if a brace would be helpful and like I would waste her time if I asked anymore questions. Additionally, she confirmed my pharmacy in person( which I even wrote down) and she still sent it to the wrong pharmacy. I've never felt more like an object on an assembly line than here at this facility. Nicest people in there were the staff who checked me in and the woman who brought me back to the room. To the staff, thank you for all your hard work. To the doctor and his assistant, next time do better and get some bedside manners. You get paid a ton of money to be medical professionals so take so pride in your work and appreciate your patients who are giving you your paycheck.

He is obviously there to help you in your process and I am grateful for his willingness to make my recovery the best it can be. Abilgaard is respectful of my goals and has made my recovery process totally tailored to what I can handle. I appreciate his authenticity and can clearly see the efforts he makes to ensure my rehab process is right for me. Would recommend highly for other high-level athletes.

He thoughtfully reviewed all treatment options and referred to relevant research to predict possible outcomes and risks associated with each treatment option. I found some of his comments offensive and felt like he was talking down to me. I actually felt like I was being chastised. It was clear he is knowledgeable, so I don't fault him for that.

Doctor was very helpful in explaining what happened to my knee after 2 falls. Gave me 3 options for treatment; we agreed on one and look forward to a good result.

Could not help relieve the pain. The clinic is not set up to relieve pain. Only gave oral steroids that did not make a difference. Then referred to physical therapy which couldn’t see him for 3 weeks to show him excercise to do. Will have to wait to go home and see the doctor back home.

This doctor appeared to have no heart. After a cursory exam, he pronounced "You're fine. Keep doing what you're doing." No suggestions or ideas for options or even encouragement. If the knee was fine, no appointment would ever have been made. :o(

Seems like a nice guy. I got a cortisone injection in my knee. Knowledgeable, explained issue, gave me different options and didn't try to sway me one way or the other. All business. I would prefer a little bit more humanness, but it seems since COVID-19 everyone I come across pretty much wants to do their business with you and be done. Grocery store clerks, banks, and restaurants are all the same way. Entire process from making the appointment,to checking in, to the short wait time, to the gal who takes you to the room, to checking out was smooth, professional and a pleasant experience. I would definitely go back for any Orthopedic issue I have in the future.

I tore all three hamstrings off the bone and was referred to Dr Abildgaard to reattach my tendons. This surgery was very scary and hugely emphasis with a long recovery. Dr Abildgaard did an excellent job doing the surgery and guiding me through recovery. I could not give him enough praise. Not a lot of surgeons are equally good at surgery and patient care!

Dr. Abildgaard is one of the best surgeons I've had the pleasure of having fix me. I have heard stories about the pain associated with shoulder surgery, but with this surgery, pain has been minimal and scars are virtually non-existent!

Personable, however, he did not take any initial girth or ROM measurements to compare to my release. Neither did he ever palpate the area for swelling on followup appts for comparison/healing. The only 'test' was extension at my initial visit and only extension at my release appt where flexion was of greater importance he did not ask me to demonstrate. I am disappointed with the lack of tracking progress which is properly and accurately done with measurements, and palpating.

Great visit!! I appreciate all the health care workers that help us - especially during these difficult times.

He was very nice, and seemed knowledgeable (made diagnosis quickly based off my description of pain). But his recommendations weren’t really helpful, was unable to tell me if meds would effect breastfeeding, and no guidance as to pain reduction other than seeing PT. There was no discharge instructions or follow up plan. The office is a total cattle call and very impersonal. They took unnecessary xrays and wanted payment before letting me leave, check out was very rude.
