Born in Wilkes-Barre, Dr. Jay Kaufman attended King's College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He received his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in 1991.
Dr. Kaufman completed his surgical training on the foot and ankle at Coast Plaza Doctor's Hospital in Norwalk, California, where he gained expertise in foot and ankle surgery, as well as arthroscopic and endoscopic surgical techniques.
Dr. Kaufman has a strong interest in second opinions and revisional surgery. He maintains expertise in foot and ankle pathology and has been closely involved with the medical and surgical education of podiatric surgical residents at St. Luke’s University Hospital. Dr. Kaufman has been invited faculty to lecture on foot and ankle reconstructive surgery with regard to the use of medical devices in foot and ankle reconstruction and has served as expert faculty for skilled lab workshops.
As part of his commitment to providing quality health care to his patients, Dr. Kaufman routinely attends seminars dealing with the latest developments in foot and ankle surgery. He has been practicing podiatric medicine and surgery for over twenty-three years.
Dr. Kaufman is board certified in foot surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and recently passed the recertification process for the second time. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

Dr Kaufman is wonderful. He's knowledgeable and takes his time to thoroughly assess an injury. He explains things well and provided the instructions I needed to help me with a severe ankle sprain that requires a long time to heal.
I had been doing physical therapy for at least a year and a half for balance and ankle issues. Dr Kaufman recognized he could fix my ankles with a simple 25 minute procedure. Now that he’s fixed both ankles, the improvement has changed the way I walk, and my life. I will always rue the time I wasted at PT and be forever grateful to Dr Kaufman. Happy Retirement sir!!

He was wonderful and listened to all I had to say.
Excellent physician
He tried to give me a shot in my right toe but the bone buildup was too great. Walked me thru everything and there was no pain with the shot although he tried several places.
Kind as always, love his directness and honesty. My surgery was a success, working toward the second. I will miss him when he retires.

Very disconnected. Was not engaged with what my issue was. I do trust the diagnosis he gave me and hopefully some of the recommendations will work.
