Dr. Javier Guzman is a fellowship-trained Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Reconstructive surgeon. He is a native of Southwest FL and grew up in Charlotte county. He specializes in state-of-the-art and proven treatments for conditions such as ankle arthritis, fractures, tendon and ligament injuries, flat feet, complex foot deformities, as well as sports-related injuries such as Achilles tendon ruptures, ankle sprains, and stress fractures. He is also trained in minimally invasive techniques for conditions such as hallux valgus(bunion) correction. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles on conditions of the foot and ankle as well as other conditions in orthopedic surgery. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
He completed his medical training at Icahn School of Medicine, Mt Sinai, New York City, NY, where he graduated with distinction in Research. Following medical school, he completed his Orthopaedic surgery residency at Mt Sinai, and then complete his fellowship at the prestigious Institute for Foot and Ankle Reconstruction at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland.

“Foot and Ankle conditions can be complex and there is no “one size fits all.” My goal is to treat patients with nonoperative treatment whenever possible, whether this entails bracing, customized orthotics, or therapy. When surgery is needed, my patients will be treated to their individual needs with the goal of getting them back to doing the things they love, whether this is taking a walk or going back to playing competitive sports.”

My compliments to all staff at Suncoast Orthopedic in Venice. I was treated with utmost respect. The X-ray tech was considerate of my hand that hurt so badly. Dr Guzman was wonderful! I highly recommend him!
First visit with Dr. Guzman. He made me feel at ease and listened to the problem. He along with his med assistant, Dusty, assessed the situation and proceeded to take care of it. I left feeling better than when I went in, no stress. I would and will recommend Dr. Guzman.
