Dr. Hooton was fantastic! The rest of the staff were unimpressive. The assistants that did my Schirmer Exam, Jake and a blonde new girl, stated that they didn’t use eye numbing for that test when I asked. My optometrist did, but for them, I sat with special papers sticking out of my eyes measuring tear volume for 5 full minutes. It was horribly uncomfortable. To add insult to injury, while I was in the room waiting to be seen by the provider, I clearly heard Dr. Hooton tell Jake to use numbing on all of his Schirmer test patients. I’m an RN. If a patient requests accommodation to ensure comfort, I was trained to at LEAST ask the provider to give the patient the best experience possible. Additionally, I don’t think the staff realize that every single conversation they have is clearly heard by patients. They were talking about work potlucks, someone that only brings certain beverages to said potlucks, and their drinking/partying over the holiday weekend.
