He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Johns Hopkins University before going to Duke University for medical school. Dr. Lang completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Duke Medical Center, where he earned the prestigious Chief Resident Teaching Award. He continued his training at New England Baptist Hospital as an Otto E. Aufranc Adult Reconstruction fellow, receiving extensive experience in the performance of both primary and complex revision hip and knee surgery.
Dr. Lang joined the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Wake Forest University in 2007, and spent nine years there rising to the rank of Associate Professor. During that time, Dr. Lang became the director Adult Reconstruction Section, and helped build a regionally recognized Joint Replacement program, and twice earned the Faculty Teaching Award from the resident physicians. Additionally, he served as Residency Director and Fellowship Director for Adult Reconstruction.
Dr. Lang joined EmergeOrtho, Blue Ridge Division in 2016, bringing his extensive experience in less-invasive techniques including direct anterior approach hip replacement and partial knee replacement, as well as his experience using patient specific instrumentation (PSI) and computer navigation to perform knee replacement surgeries. Dr. Lang also specializes in surgery for failed or poorly performing hip and knee replacements, known as “revision surgery”.
