I was sent to Dr. Burrus by my previous urologist because he had the skills and tools to perform a specific procedure that I needed. That was over 6 years ago and I am still happy with Dr. Burrus! He and his team are always helpful and I know that I am getting the best care possible.
Dr. Jason Burrus was the first to use the daVinci surgical system in Shelby County and has continued to advance its use in the care of many urologic conditions. He has served as an instructor to other physicians outside the area who were learning to employ the daVinci system to treat prostate cancer. Dr. Burrus has special interests in minimally invasive options in the care of kidney and prostate cancer and the treatment of kidney stones. Most recently, Dr. Burrus and Dr. Wade introduced Urolift to the practice for patients living with BPH.
Dr. Burrus grew up in Jasper, Alabama. He attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham through his undergraduate years and graduated summa cum laude in 1995. He then attended medical school at the University of South Alabama. There he earned the Dean’s Award for academic achievement and became a member of the medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Burrus then completed a six-year residency in urology at UAB. He has been in practice in Shelby County, Alabama since 2005.
