"I am often asked by patients, 'What would you do if you were me?"
I like getting this question from patients because it allows me to connect with them on a personal level and help them understand what treatment option I would choose for myself or recommend for a family member if I were in a similar position. I believe the doctor/patient relationship is built through these types of connections, and this question not only allows me to build that deeper connection but also helps me know that my patients trust me, which is a humbling position to be in."
Dr. Jared W. Colón, M.D., pursued orthopaedics as a specialty because of the unique position orthopaedic surgeons have to restore function through surgical treatments that have been lost through some sort of trauma or degenerative condition. Even something as simple as carpal tunnel syndrome can have a profound impact on an individual's life and well-being.
He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado Denver. He earned his medical degree from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. He completed his orthopaedic residency at Temple University Hospital. He fulfilled his hand, upper extremity, and microsurgery fellowship at the University of Arizona College of Medicine.
Dr. Colón chose hand surgery specifically because of the wide variety of surgical cases, which can be from very simple to incredibly complex, the intricate anatomy of the hand and the rewarding nature of being able to restore hand function and improve the quality of life of individuals is his favorite part of orthopaedics.
Dr. Colón's patients appreciate the time he takes to talk with them and to get to know them on a deeper level. He believes it is important to build connections with patients that go beyond whatever the reason is for their visit, and he strives to do that in every patient interaction.
Dr. Colón was born in Minot, North Dakota, and when he's not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three boys. He loves going to the beach, hiking, trying new restaurants, reading, cooking, running, home coffee roasting, and watching Atlanta Braves baseball.

Dr. Colon is absolutely the best! If you need someone to successfully put your elbow and arm back together, I highly recommend him. He truly cares about his patients’ wellbeing and is a good listener.

I have been a patient of Dr.Colon’s for almost seven months for a fractured arm that I sustained; from my first appointment with him; he has been courteous, professional, extremely responsive and knowledgeable, has taken into consideration my unique underlying medical conditions. He is an exemplary physician,whom, as someone with multiple chronic illnesses , and as a young adult stroke survivor, who has been treated at the Mayo Clinic; I highly recommend..
