I have been a patient at this clinic since 1999 and have always trusted the quality of care I received. However, during my most recent annual physical, I was disappointed by the lack of thoroughness. Despite fasting before my appointment, no blood work was ordered to monitor my diabetes or other health conditions, and I did not receive my usual flu shot. The visit consisted mainly of an ear cleaning and a brief memory test. This was quite different from the comprehensive care I’ve come to expect over the years. In the past, I would have rated this practice 5 stars, but based on my recent experience, I can only give it 2 stars.

Dr. Wheeler didn’t review annual blood test that the appointment was scheduled for. The assistant pulled up someone else chart. The assistant took blood test and recorded in the chart without letting me know. When questioned, the assistant told me it was 158/120. The result might require adjustment in medication. I asked for the retake due to out of line result. The new reading showed 125/87.

My doctor first over 40 years. I was the lucky one to have found him then … and he has felt with any and all health issues in a warm professional manner.

I used to see Rachel Simpson, who was a knowledgeable and empathetic doctor, but I saw Dr. Wheeler yesterday since Rachel has now left the practice. My experiences with Dr. Wheeler have always been medicore. The time before this, he tried to urge me to get off of my much needed anxiety medication of zoloft because "I shouldn't depend on it forever". My therapist told me stopping my medication is a terrible idea. This time he tried to push ozempic on me because of my "weight". As someone who has a history of eating disorders, this was very triggering for me. I run 10 miles a week, workout regularly and eat mostly healthy. It seems like Dr. Wheeler has some outdated ideals and because of this, some of the guidance he gives his patients can harm them rather than help them.
