First time at Blue Ridge Ortho. Staff was very welcoming, Dr Ward was very communicative about options and made me feel comfortable during the appointment. Very personable and professional.

Dr. Ward is an incredible doctor. He has a fantastic bedside manner and takes his time to see what the real cause of my knee issue has been. I HIGHLY recommend him!

Dr. Ward is the best! He takes his time explaining to me what he is going to do and why. . Dr. Ward has been there for me through three surgeries . I would not go to anyone else.

Dr. James P. Ward, M.D. is a sports medicine doctor specializing in the treatment of knee and shoulder conditions. He joined Blue Ridge Orthopaedic & Spine Center in 2013 and has privileges at Fauquier Hospital, Haymarket Medical Center, and Haymarket Surgical Center.
He serves as the team physician for Kettle Run High School and spends his free time with his wife and two sons.
Dr. Ward completed his Bachelor of Science degree with highest honors in Pharmacy from the Rutgers University College of Pharmacy in 2002. He remained at Rutgers University for his Medical Degree which he received in 2007. His academic achievements there earned him membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
Upon graduation, he was accepted to the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases orthopedic surgery residency program. His work there earned him the distinction as resident teacher of the year, an award elected by his peers. He then pursued specialty training in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy at the University of Pittsburgh. There, Dr. Ward was involved in the care of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and the University of Pittsburgh athletic teams.
Dr. Ward is published in numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.
