Dr. James Tycast, M.D. was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He graduated Cum Laude with a B.S. in Biology and finished a NASA research grant fellowship from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska in 1998. He completed his medical degree as well as his internship and residency training in Urologic Surgery at Saint Louis University Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri. Dr. Tycast received the Distinguished Teaching Award in 2010 for his educational contributions to the medical school. Dr. Tycast is a member of the American Urological Association, the Endourological Society, and the American College of Surgeons.
His special interests include all areas of urology such as minimally invasive surgery, endourology, kidney stones, overactive bladder, incontinence, and erectile dysfunction. He also performs in-office no scalpel vasectomies. An advocate for medical education, Dr. Tycast holds seminars for both public and private organizations in an effort to educate the community on urological issues. Dr. Tycast still believes that patient knowledge and communication is power. “By effectively educating and communicating with our patients, we can work together as a treatment team and empower our patients to make strong, informed decisions to optimize their care and produce positive outcomes.”
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Tycast enjoys spending time with his wife, a native to the Pacific Northwest, and their two sons. He also enjoys sports and outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking, basketball, tennis, golf, and exploring the local farmer’s markets.
