I think Dr. Shumake is a great doctor. I think his staff does not follow up with making an appointment. We were waiting on an answer from the insurance company for MRI. We never received a call telling us when he could go get the test done. so we waited for May until yesterday when we called him got in to see him. I think he’s very knowledgeable and very good. His staff does not follow up with the testing or getting back in contact with you to let you know if it has been approved or disapproved . So now we have to start the whole process over and wait six weeks to even get back in. He has had cancer and major surgery and something is very wrong. Dr. Shoemaker cannot schedule the appointment because of the insurance because the staff did not follow up the first time. Other than that it’s great . I think he’s very knowledgeable and I think he cares very much for his patience. He just needs some help with the follow-ups.

He served as an Outpatient Physician for the Summersville Rural Health Clinic, as a staff physician and as Director of Pulmonary Rehabilitation for the Summersville Regional Medical Center located in Summersville, West Virginia. Dr. Shumate is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, American Osteopathic Association, American Medical Association, and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. He is also a member of the Sigma Sigma Phi National honorary Association and the Psi Sigma Alpha National Honorary Association.
