James Shumate, D.O.

Dr. James Shumate, D.O. is Board Certified by the American board of Family Medicine and has over fifteen years of clinical experience. Dr. Shumate attended Glenville State College, Glenville, West Virginia where he received his Bachelor of Science. He conducted his internship at the United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, West Virginia and attended the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine located in Lewisburg, West Virginia where he received his Doctor of Osteopathy. Dr. Shumate completed his residency of family medicine at the United Hospital Center and has extensive experience in both private practice and as a staff physician. He previously practiced privately at the Family Medical Clinic in Jane Lew, West Virginia and served as a staff physician in both the United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, West Virginia and the Stonewall Jackson Memorial hospital in Weston, West Virginia. He served as an Outpatient Physician for the Summersville Rural Health Clinic, as a staff physician and as Director of Pulmonary Rehabilitation for the Summersville Regional Medical Center located in Summersville, West Virginia. Dr. Shumate is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, American Osteopathic Association, American Medical Association, and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. He is also a member of the Sigma Sigma Phi National honorary Association and the Psi Sigma Alpha National Honorary Association.
