James P. Higgins, M.D.

Dr. James P. Higgins, M.D., is a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon with a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Hand Surgery. Dr. Higgins has been named a Top Doctor by Baltimore Magazine on numerous occasions. Dr. Higgins earned his Medical Degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine. He completed his Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Residency at the University of Rochester. He performed a Hand Surgery Fellowship at the Raymond T. Curtis National Hand Center at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore.

James P. Higgins, MD is the Chief of the Curtis National Hand Center at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore. As such, he has the responsibility of leading the clinical, administrative, research and teaching functions at the prestigious Curtis National Hand Center.

His numerous research studies and clinical trial research projects are published in prestigious peer-reviewed medical journals. He is a sought after national and international presenter and visiting professor. He is a member of many national societies and committees in the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery and the American Society of Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Higgins is a Founding Member of the American Society of Reconstructive Transplantation and a Fellow of the American College Surgeons and American Association of Plastic Surgeons.
