Dr. James M. Lin is a board-certified, Fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in hand and upper extremity.
His practice focus is on conservative treatment first but, when needed, offering the latest in advanced surgical orthopedic and hand care. Minimally invasive endoscopic carpal tunnel release, in-office trigger digit release procedure, and in-office percutaneous needle aponeurotomy for Dupuytren’s contracture uniquely combine effective treatments with faster recovery and minimizing overall costs. His interests also include thumb arthritis and reconstruction, fracture/injury care, nerve disorders, and shoulder/elbow conditions.
Born and raised in upstate New York, he completed his undergraduate studies at Cornell University and graduated from medical school at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston followed by advanced fellowship training in Plastics Hand Surgery.
Dr. Lin is involved with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (Fellow), the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (Subspecialty Certificate in Surgery of the Hand), and the California Orthopedic Association. He has active privileges at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (current chair, Division of Orthopedics/Podiatry), Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital, and Monterey Peninsula Surgery Center.
