James Leonard, M.D.

Orthopedic specialist Dr. James Leonard pursued a Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery Fellowship at Vanderbilt University. He completed his residency at University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center and graduated Medical School from Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine, Chicago, IL.

He specializes in Shoulder Reconstruction, Arthroscopy, and Sports Medicine. He was the team physician for Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League, Vanderbilt University, University of Illinois at Chicago Flames, St. Ignatius College Prep High School, St. Rita High School, Chicago Sky WNBA, Morgan Park Academy High School, and Nashville Sounds – Triple A baseball.

Dr. Leonard’s interests, in addition to his clinical practice, is athletic coverage as the team physician for Carl Sandburg High School, Marist High School, Windy City Magic Basketball and American Hearing Impaired Hockey Association. Dr. Leonard traveled to Finland in March of 2013 to cover the USA AHIHA Olympic Games.

Dr. Leonard is a Master Instructor for Arthroscopy Association of North America and Assistant Clinical Professor at University of Illinois at Chicago. He reviews for Arthroscopy & American Journal of Sports Medicine.

He is also a member of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Association’s Emerging Leaders Program, Arthroscopy Association of North America, Illinois Association for Orthopaedic Surgeons and Mid-America Orthopaedic Association.
