Dr. Hughey and his staff are fantastic - very knowledgeable, informative and professional. My surgery and recovery went smoothly and I’m so grateful for the care and attention I received.

Listened to my concerns with my knee.
He was second opinion after a surgery a year ago. I told him I didn’t want a bandaid (injects) to hold me off. I also, expressed I had one at the other office and it only lasted a week. I truly want to get back to my normal working out and going to the gym. Also, I have a big wedding next year and wanted to be able to walk normal.

Dr. Hughey has been great at helping me heal from a pulled shoulder. Within the first 3 months I have made amazing progress and I could not be happier.

Dr. Hughey is an orthopaedic surgeon and a member of The Orthopaedic Center Sports Medicine Team. Before joining TOC, Dr. Hughey completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at Andrews Research and Orthopedic Institute in Gulf Breeze, FL where he served as team physician for area high schools and served as assistant team physician for Pensacola’s Cincinnati Reds AA baseball team. Dr. Hughey graduated Magna Cum Laude from Mississippi State University in Biochemistry. After graduation, he served as a research technician in the Department of Cell Biology and Neuroscience before moving to the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of South Alabama. Dr. Hughey completed his medical degree and orthopaedic residency at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences.
Dr. Hughey has always been an active member of the community whether on the field as a medical volunteer, performing physicals for school children, providing medical care for the homeless or serving on medical education committees. He is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Support and Basic Cardiac Life Support.
