Partial knee replacement. The expected pain I'd heard so many horror stories about never materialized. My pain level rarely, if ever, rose about a 3-4 and most of the time was 0-1. Ditched the walker after one week, the cane after two. After 5 weeks, done with therapy and moving on with life.

It's been 2.5 years since Dr. Dowd completed my left knee replacement surgery. I haven't been the same since, and not in a good way. I'd give him a grade of C-. I am forced to seek another surgeon's opinion/expertise to find a solution to the 24/7 pain and discomfort.

Dr Dowd is professional, caring and very good at what he does. I have had one hip replacement (performed by him) and will soon need the other hip replaced. I would not want anyone but Dr Dowd to perform my surgery. He is Excellent! My replaced hip is great now and you can barely see the scar from the surgery. In life, some people are placed in the positions in which they are meant to be. This is certainly true of Dr Dowd.

I think he saw that I was a Medicare patient and didn’t want to take me as a patient. The examination was less than 10 minutes. In his notes in My Chart he said he discussed things with me that he did not discuss. No interest in finding out the cause of my pain

Long waiting time but Dr. Dowd seemed rushed when it was time to discuss my concerns. Never responded to message I submitted to him through MyChart. Didn't review the important dates and notes from previous doctor that was pertinent to my visit that day, yet wasted time asking me the same questions. Had he read the paperwork that they ask me to complete, he would have been informed when he came in the room.

Started seein Dr. Dowd 15 years ago had a partial knee replacement. Since then I've had hip replacement and another partial knee replacement on other knee. Great care very Pleased Would highly recommend Dr. Dowd.

My appointment was at 2:30. I was not seen by Dr. Dowd until 3:15-3:20. He obviously did not look at my chart and was very surprised that I have RA. Then proceed to tell me that I do need a hip replacement but my BMI is too high. Nothing changed from the time I made the appointment till the day of. The person scheduling asked for height and weight. Dr. Dowd could have relayed that information via a phone call or letter in the mail. He was overall very unprofessional and I will not be returning to see him or anyone else in your practice.

I have total confidence and respect for Dr. Dowd. He speaks to you in frank realities, but doesn't just tell you do it, he explains why. I feel like he is the 1st Dr. In a long time to treat me as an adult and not a child. I will be having my 1st surgery with him this fall and I must say I'm looking forward to it. Dr. Dowd listens and is a straight shooter. He doesn't side step your concerns. I've so far been very impressed.

When I first met Dr. Dowd I was referred by the late Andy Altman. I had a bad experience at Atlantic Orthopedic and he suggested that I see Dr. Dowd and I wasn't disappointed. He is no nonsense and to the point. His work (knee replacement) was exceptional.

Too long of a wait. Waited 40 min. before getting x-rays and another 15-20 min. before the doctor came in the room.

Good to see such a thorough ortho. Listened to me but heard what he wanted to hear. I’m sure he is a very technically good surgeon. I didn’t have the feeling we were on the same page. Perhaps he wasn’t given enough time for me. He seemed very rushed.

Dr. Dowd did a very thorough exam of my right knee. When he found out that I was quite ticklish he worked very hard to find a way of not causing this. He was able to locate the most painful area of my knee. As x-rays did not show a problem, his next step was to get an MRI.

I know he is great but hard to converse with sometimes. Overworked and pressured to see more & more patients probably.

So knowledgeable but very willing to answer questions.

Understanding and knowledgable

After waiting 2 hours to see the dr, he gave me all of 5 minutes of his time. Would not even let me finish a complete sentence before cutting me off and did not seem interested in trying to help me because my particular issue does not show up on images and cannot be fixed with the typical hip replacement surgeries that he apparently specializes in. When I made the appointment, I asked for a dr who could help with muscular issues in the hip area. I was assigned this dr but the scheduler, and then he acted as if I was wasting HIS time! The entire office needs to be better organized.

I had my initial appointment with Dr. Dowd regarding ongoing pain in my right knee. Dr. Dowd was referred to me by one of his colleagues. I was very impressed with Dr. Dowd who, after taking X-rays, recommended that I get an MRI. I am now waiting to talk with him again after he has an opportunity to reviews my MRI results and advises me on the next step.

Excellent as a doctor/surgeon!!! Not too much on conversation, which is what I look for in a doctor. I like interaction. I like to feel like my questions are addressed.

I’m a patient with a long orthopedic history. So far I’ve only had one appt with Dr Dowd but I feel comfortable him. The office staff was courteous. The Dr gave an injection and discussed my X-ray. He was friendly and not dismissive. So we’ll see how it goes.
