Dr. James Doran, M.D., is a board-certified, Sports Fellowship-Trained Orthopaedic Surgeon who specializes in arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgery of the shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee for patients of all ages and activity levels. Dr. Doran also performs partial and total joint replacement of the shoulder, hip, and knee, as well as general fracture care.
Dr. Doran received his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering, Tissue Engineering, and Biomaterials from Drexel University. He continued at Drexel University’s College of Medicine for his medical degree. Prior to his residency training, he pursued a research year at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases in the Orthopaedic Surgery Adult Joint Reconstruction Division. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency training in Brooklyn, New York at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, where he served as chief resident.
Dr. Doran returned to Philadelphia, PA, and completed his orthopaedic sports medicine fellowship at the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute at Thomas Jefferson University. During his fellowship, he served as assistant team physician for the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies professional sports teams, as well as the St. Joseph University Athletics and multiple Philadelphia area high schools. He was also selected to be an assistant orthopaedic surgeon at the MLB 2021 Draft Combine.
