Dr. Carson was personable and took time to discuss my options. The front desk staff was rude. I asked for a prescription, not narcotics. He said he would send it. He never did. His scheduler never called me to set an appointment. Sorry, but a ship run that loosely is not going to perform surgery on me.

Dr. James Carson, M.D., is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon. He received his undergraduate from the University of Michigan with a degree in Biochemistry and a minor in Spanish. He began his medical studies at Johns Hopkins University and earned a dual degree in Medicine and Public Health. He went on to complete his orthopedic surgical residency at Howard University and was fellowship-trained in hip and knee replacements at the University of Chicago. He has significant experience performing joint replacement but is extensively trained in treating the multitude of complications that can occur secondary to joint replacement.
Dr. Carson received his calling when he was still very young. He knew he wanted to go into orthopedic surgery while in high school because of his time in sports and exposure to the field as a patient. His decision to focus on joint replacement came while in medical school after completing a medical mission trip in which we replaced the hips and knees of multiple patients, restoring mobility and a lifetime of possibilities to so many people. He cherishes his family and enjoys spending time traveling with them to experience new cultures. He is fluent in both English and Spanish. Dr. Carson is a sports fanatic and a huge fan of all University of Michigan sports.
