My mom has seen Dr. Kakkar for several years and he helped my mom to get her blood pressure in a healthy range after suffering several strokes. Today we saw Dr. Kim because my mom’s blood pressure has been elevated and we could not get in to see Dr. Kakkar.
Over the last 4 weeks her blood pressure has been erratic and gone up to 180+ / 85 on several days.
Today her blood pressure was 140/60 when went to our appointment. Dr. Kim said there was “nothing that he could do based on the blood pressure he saw” in the office. Despite the fact that I have over a month of blood pressures charted and despite the fact that she has a history of strokes.
He was ready to send us home with no changes. He said that “blood pressure can fluctuate during the day” to an 83 year old woman with hypertension.
After pushing back several times, he changed on one of her medications
This is not the level of care that I expect to see from a cardiologist and I will not see Dr. Kim again.
