We have been with Dr. Klaas and his staff for 13 years, and they have always provided exceptional care. Dr. Klaas is wonderful with children and truly takes the time to make them feel comfortable. I would highly recommend his practice to other families. One thing we especially appreciate is that they are open 7 days a week and do their best to see sick children as soon as possible when appointments are available. We are very grateful for the care and support they have provided over the years.

Dr. J. Richard Klaas, M.D., has been a pediatrician at Richmond Pediatric Associates since 1996. He enjoyed growing up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and still visits there frequently. He was an Echols Scholar at the University of Virginia. There, he pursued a premedical curriculum with interests in biology and child psychology, and graduated in 1989. He then attended the University of Michigan Medical School, where he graduated in 1993. He was inducted into the Galens Medical Society at Michigan in 1991. Dr. Klaas completed his Internship and Residency in Pediatrics at Duke University Medical Center in 1996. Dr. Klaas was appointed Clinical Instructor in the Department of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University. He has been active in teaching medical students and residents, both in our office and at the medical school. He is Board Certified in Pediatrics, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He has numerous interests and hobbies, including kayaking, gardening, biking, and reading.
