Dr. J. David Watts is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon. Dr. Watts provides general orthopaedic care, with a special interest in foot and ankle surgery. He received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School and went on to complete his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery there as well.
Dr. Watts’ goal as an Orthopedic Surgeon is to relieve musculoskeletal pain and improve function to allow his patients to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle. This involves treating recent injuries and fractures, diagnosing and treating chronic problems, and revising problems created by other surgeries.
His training includes complex lower extremity deformities and reconstruction such as ankle replacements, Charcot foot, arthritis, bunion and hammertoe correction, and innovative minimally invasive and arthroscopic surgical techniques.
During his time at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Watts’ research efforts included studying surgical corrections of arthrogryposis in the hand and the benefits of PRP with syndesmotic ankle sprains, in addition to an article review for Bankart repair in athletes.
Dr. Watts has a wife and two children. He enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors, and snowboarding. Since moving to Florida, he is eager to start surfing and fishing.

Excellent care
Dr. Watts is a great Dr. He did surgery on my hand and did a wonderful job on my hand. He has a great bedside manner and is very honest.
I just wanted to express my gratitude and admiration for Dr. Watts. Literally, in one visit, he accurately diagnosed the issue with my knee and confirmed it with an MRI. The operation was a huge success, and remarkably, a week later, I'm completely pain-free.
