Dr. Itchak Schwarzbard is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with subspecialty certification in surgery of the hand. Dr. Schwarzbard graduated from Stony Brook University with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. He then attended the Chicago Medical School, where he graduated with AOA honors and additionally received his Master of Science in Pathology. His residency training was completed in Orthopedic Surgery at Downstate Medical Center/Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn, New York. He advanced his training by completing a fellowship in Surgery of the Hand and Upper Extremity at Tufts/New England Medical Center and the New England Baptist Hospital in Boston. Dr. Schwarzbard is board-certified and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Surgery of the Hand, and is also a fellow of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. Dr. Schwarzbard has expertise in the latest treatment of all injuries and disorders of the hand, wrist, elbow, and arm. He treats a vast array of conditions both surgically and non-operatively. His broad spectrum of surgical skills include microsurgery; small joint arthroscopy; endoscopic and open carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel surgery; small joint replacement; complex hand, wrist, and elbow trauma; surgical and non-surgical treatment for Dupuytren's Contractures; tendon repairs and transfers; sports/ligament injuries; and many other afflictions affecting the upper extremity. In addition, he is proficient in general orthopedic trauma and medicine. Dr. Schwarzbard's research has been published in several orthopedic journals and his work has been presented in numerous international orthopedic conferences. He holds active membership in the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and has presented at the annual meetings for both organizations. Dr. Schwarzbard remains constant with the ever-changing world of orthopedics and upper extremity surgery and provides his patients with the most up-to-date treatments available.
