She completed her internal medicine residency training at New York Medical College and fellowship training in gastroenterology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She previously held multiple academic positions including Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) School of Medicine. She has received multiple awards for academic excellence and has presented her research findings at major medical conferences.
