Dr. Sunjic lived in Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Germany prior to moving to the U.S in 1997. He attended public school near Atlanta, GA before attending the University of Georgia in Athens for his undergraduate education where he received degrees in both biology and psychology. He graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA. Dr. Sunjic completed his internal medicine residency and cardiovascular disease fellowship with the Morsani College of Medicine at the University of South Florida in Tampa. He cared for patients within the James A. Haley Veterans Affairs Hospital System, Moffitt Cancer Institute and at Tampa General Hospital. Dr. Sunjic joined Clearwater Cardiovascular Consultants (CCC) in 2020. His clinical interests include non-invasive imaging, including echocardiography, TEE, cardiac computed tomography, nuclear cardiology and peripheral vascular ultrasound. Dr. Sunjic has several research interests, including carcinoid heart disease as well as survivorship after cardiac arrest and has published papers in these areas. Dr. Sunjic (shoe-nick) is extremely professional and knowledgeable, but what really stands out is his calm and reassuring demeanor. He takes the time to truly listen and makes you feel heard and understood. His ability to connect with patients and explain things clearly creates a level of comfort and confidence that’s hard to find. You never feel rushed, and you leave feeling both informed and at ease.

Dr. Sunjic listened to my concerns about climbing Guadalupe Peak in Texas next week, and did schedule a follow up in a month to make sure AFIB was not a problem during my ascent.
