Dr. Idalys Santos-Sánchez was born and raised in Caguas, Puerto Rico, a big urban city located in the Central/East side of the Caribbean Island. Growing up, as early as elementary school, she developed a love for science, which later matured into a passion for internal medicine, physiology of the human body, disease prevention, and creating a healthy quality of life. Medicine and building long-lasting relationships with her patients have always been a calling and privilege of hers. Dr. Santos-Sánchez earned her medical degree from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
A leader by nature, Dr. Santos-Sánchez served as the Chief Resident at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina. She also served the Spanish-speaking communities through volunteer work as a Spanish translator and nutritional meal advocate at Brenner Children’s Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Dr. Santos-Sánchez joined Gonzaba Medical Group in 2021 because she felt right at home as soon as she walked through the door. She was impressed by how welcoming and warm everyone is, how well the physicians support each other, and how happy the patients are with their care.
In her free time, Dr. Santos-Sánchez enjoys spending time with her loved ones and three Shih Tzus. She also enjoys traveling, reading, and doing jigsaw puzzles.

Dr.Sanchez has been my Dr. for a few years now. She has always been very attentive to me and my issues. She is a professional in all aspects of her profession . I will miss her as she moves on to future endeavors. Good Luck and Thank you for caring as you do. God Bless Always.
Dr. Santos is the most exceptional doctor I know. It’s sad that she is leaving but I understand that better opportunities exist for her. You will be missed Dr. Santos. I love her 😍

Dr Sanchez is a wonderful doctor. Very professional and personable at the same time. Always explains everything in a positive manner. She is going to be missed.
Did a follow up after E R visit was not satisfied with evaluation so much mix.up.i don't fill i was advised of my health issues really disappointed waste of my time because nothing was done and sent home filling the same in much pain
