Dr. Kim earned his medical degree from Kyungpook University School of Medicine in South Korea before coming to the United States for advanced orthopaedic training. He completed fellowship training in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at Washington University in St. Louis and at Columbia University in New York. Following fellowship, he pursued an academic career at major teaching institutions, including Penn State University in Hershey, PA, and the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO.

Dr. Mike Kim established his orthopaedic practice in Las Vegas in 2024 after many years serving at major academic teaching hospitals. He brings a distinguished track record as a surgeon, educator, and researcher, and is widely recognized both nationally and internationally for his expertise in advanced shoulder and elbow surgery and high-impact research.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Kim has performed more than 1,500 shoulder replacement procedures in addition to a large volume of complex arthroscopic shoulder surgeries. He has authored over 80 peer-reviewed scientific papers and more than 10 book chapters. He has been invited to present his work at numerous national and international conferences.
Dr. Kim is currently the only surgeon in the State of Nevada who is an active member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES), a prestigious academic society composed of orthopaedic surgeons who have demonstrated excellence in surgical care and research in the field of shoulder and elbow surgery. He is a founding member of Nevada Shoulder Society, an academic organization dedicated for education, collaboration, and innovation among shoulder surgeons in Nevada.
