Dr. Houston Dove is a fellowship-trained sports medicine orthopedic surgeon and specializes in the treatment of all sports injuries. His training gives him the ability to take care of a wide range of injuries involving the shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee. He takes care of all patients across the spectrum, including adolescents, elite high school and college athletes, recreational athletes, weekend warriors, and laborers. His practice emphasizes both surgical and non-surgical treatment of musculoskeletal injuries as he believes each patient’s care should be tailored to his or her treatment goals.
A native Memphian, Dr. Dove attended Harding Academy before graduating summa cum laude from Lipscomb University in Nashville. He then returned to Memphis where he graduated from medical school and received the Faculty Medal for the highest academic achievement at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He completed his Orthopedic Surgery training and, subsequently, his Orthopedic Trauma fellowship at Brown University. While in Rhode Island, he had several opportunities to serve and cover local high schools, Brown University athletics, and the Providence Bruins, the minor league hockey team for the Boston Bruins. Dr. Dove then completed his Orthopedic Sports Medicine fellowship in Birmingham, Alabama at Andrews Sports Medicine. During his time there, he served as the head team physician for Tuskegee University and was an assistant team physician for Auburn University. He had a wide exposure to all kinds of athletes as he also served the Birmingham Barons minor league baseball team, Alabama ballet, and local high school athletics.
Dr. Dove is thrilled to be returning home to Memphis with his wife and three children to serve his community and treat his patients so that they can return to the activities that they enjoy. He currently serves as the team physician for St. George’s Independent School and Rhodes College.

Dr Dove involved me in making decisions for my knee injury. I chose surgery and it went very well. I was walking without assistance in just a few days.

He has been nice and knowledgeable, but I do not feel like he listens very well to chief complaints when furthering a diagnosis.

I had a ski accident which left me with a ruptured ACL. I got an appointment quickly with Dr Dove and with first impression- he was wonderful. My husband was on the phone as he was out of state at the time, and DrDove spent a lot of time answering questions and looking at schedules to figure the best time to have surgery. I had about 3 months before I was to go on a 3 week vacation to Europe. He wanted to make sure recovery was possible as well as getting enough PT to get stronger. Dr Dove has the best bedside manner I have ever had with a surgeon.
