Dr. Hong Jun “Francisco” Yun, M.D., earned his medical degree at the Chicago Medical School, and completed his residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He then finished his fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at Beaumont Hospital. A triple board-certified interventionalist and former Chief Fellow, Dr. Yun specializes in high-risk PCI, coronary atherectomy, and percutaneous heart pump insertions. Joining HCCI, he holds additional board certifications across four distinct non-invasive imaging modalities.

Dr. Hong Jun “Francisco” Yun, M.D., is Interventional Cardiologist with Heart Care Centers of Illinois. He is triple-board certified in Interventional Cardiology, Cardiovascular Disease and Internal Medicine.
He is skilled in performing cardiac catheterizations from both the radial (wrist) and femoral approach (groin). He has extensive experience with all aspects of Interventional Cardiology including balloon angioplasty with stenting, high-risk PCI, coronary atherectomy, and insertion of percutaneous heart pumps (i.e. intra-aortic balloon pumps and impella).
In addition, he is experienced in general cardiology and is board-certified in four non-invasive imaging modalities: 1) Echocardiography including performing trans-esophageal echos, 2) Nuclear stress tests, 3) Cardiac CT, and 4) Vascular ultrasounds.
He graduated from Northwestern University and received his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School. He completed his Internal Medicine training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. He completed both his Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology training at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI where he served as Chief Interventional Cardiology Fellow.
He is a native to the Southwest suburbs of Chicago and is glad to be back to serve the community he grew up in. He is married and has two children. He enjoys playing tennis, golf, and traveling with his family.
