After my appointment today I requested my medical records, started looking for a different doctor, and contacted my attorney. I’m also going to file numerous complaints before the week is done.

I want to say that I feel Dr. Chan is coming from a well-intentioned place and I am in no way imputing on his abilities as a surgeon. He obviously cares for his staff. However, he was extremely defensive, enclosed off to feedback regarding my experiences, communicating with his staff, especially regarding pain management and trying to return to gainful activity. He also seemed to assume that I would know what to expect instead of him being the expert on my Care and made me feel insignificant and stupid for not knowing that my physical therapy might cause pain. At the same time, he closed off questions, which made it really hard to ask him what I needed, and ensure that I have confidence in my care. As a result, I’m selecting a physical therapist outside your network because I don’t feel that the staff and Dr. Chan, especially helpful in addressing my fears and concerns.
