Dr. Henry Yu, M.D., is the total joint replacement surgeon at Vail-Summit Orthopaedics & Neurosurgery. Specializing in adult reconstruction, Dr. Yu focuses on patients with hip and knee conditions who require replacement surgery, including pain caused by knee and hip osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and post-traumatic arthritis.
Before becoming an orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Yu had a long and diverse history in Summit County. Dr. Yu grew up in Denver and moved to Breckenridge in 2000 after graduating from the University of Colorado. As a consummate mountain-town local, Dr. Yu worked as a ski instructor and ski patroller in the winter and an EMT instructor in the summer. His experiences in Breckenridge introduced him to the field of orthopaedic trauma, and he was accepted into medical school at Loyola in Chicago in 2012. Upon graduating, Dr. Yu earned a coveted spot in the University of Colorado's Orthopaedics residency and a fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania specializing in hip and knee replacement surgery.
Along with offering direct anterior hip replacements, minimally invasive total knee replacements, and robotic-assisted knee replacements, Dr. Yu's sub-specialty is providing joint revision work for patients who've had knee or hip work and need a slight upgrade as they age.
With his history in the Colorado mountains, education, training, and philosophies in patient care, Dr. Yu is dedicated to providing the highest level of care to our Total Joint patients.

Dr. Yu is a wonderful surgeon. I had a full knee replacement in September and I'm feeling better than I have in years. In addition to his surgical skills, he's compassionate, funny, and smart. Highly recommend him if you need orthopedic surgery!

Dr. Yu replaced my right hip 2-1/2 years ago, and then my left hip September of this year. Outcomes on both are excellent! My much better quality of life is reflected by his expertise. He is professional and kind. He thinks of his patients first. He listens to any concerns or questions you might have. I highly recommend him without reservation.
He diagnosed my problem quickly, and suggested a plan to get me fixed up. Very personable.
