Dr. Hemant Sindhu, M.D. inspiration to help each patient in her/his individual journey began with mother’s battle against lymphoma. Dr. Sindhu was just eleven years old when his mother’s illness was diagnosed and it changed his life forever. Just like his mother showed the courage and strength to win the fight against cancer, young Dr. Sindhu showed the resolve to help patients by spending most of his free time volunteering at the local hospital where his mother was diagnosed: from the age of 12 to 18, he was a junior volunteer at Santa Teresita Hospital in the Los Angeles area. Dr. Sindhu not only graduated as Valedictorian of his class at Duarte High School in California, he earned the distinction of the most committed volunteer at the hospital for the number of hours dedicated to improving the lives of patients. Having been honored with multiple scholarships as well as local, state, and national accolades, Dr. Sindhu began his undergraduate studies at UCLA. He was then honored with a prestigious President’s Scholarship at CSULB to study microbiology and immunology from where again graduated as the title of Most Outstanding Graduate in his Department. Having impressed his superiors during his clinical rotations in medical school, he was heavily recruited to residency programs. He maintained his dedication to learning and helping the most vulnerable communities at the same time which is why he chose to work with the inner city population through a combined program of New York Medical College and New York University at the Brookdale University Medical Center. After completing his residency in Internal Medicine, Dr. Sindhu went on to complete a competitive research fellowship in Hematology-Oncology at the Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program and the State University of New York followed by a clinical fellowship in Hematology-Oncology where he was appointed Chief Fellow.
