So happy to see Dr. Stahura. Had missed my regular annual visit with her last year when she was on maternity leave. She is always so upbeat, so concerned on be behalf, so understanding and helpful. Dr. Heather Stahura, M.D. was born and raised in Amsterdam, New York and attended Amsterdam high school. She graduated summa cum laude from University at Albany with a major in biology and a dual minor in chemistry and physics. She attended Stony Brook School of medicine. While at Stony Brook medical school she was a recipient of the gold humanism Honor Society.
She then completed internal medicine residency at Northwell Health formally known as North Shore -Long Island Jewish hospital system. After her postgraduate training downstate, she returned home to the Capital District to train further in cardiovascular disease at Albany Medical Center.
During fellowship in cardiovascular disease Dr. Stahura was the recipient of the 2018 Biddle award which is given annually to a fellow in cardiology who represents a caring, humanistic, sensitive approach to patient care and patient advocacy.
After postgraduate training she joined Capital Cardiology in the summer of 2018. She remains a member of the American Medical Association and a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. She has a passion for preventative cardiology, women’s heart health, valvular heart disease, congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease as well as spearheading the development of the cardio-oncology division at CCA.
Dr. Stahura is Chief of Cardiology at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, New York.
She enjoys cooking, music, Netflix, tennis, all things Peloton, and is an animal enthusiast. She has a working knowledge of Spanish having taken medical Spanish while at Stony Brook School of Medicine.
