Dr. Mac Starr, M.D. earned his medical degree from Medical College of Georgia and completed his residency at Emory University. He is a board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and fellowship-trained in hand, upper extremity, and microvascular surgery at Curtis National Hand Center in Baltimore, Maryland, and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He has a special interest in trauma of the hand and upper extremity.

Dr. Mac Starr, M.D. with Georgia Hand, Shoulder & Elbow in Atlanta and Marietta, Georgia, welcomes patients seeking treatment for shoulder, elbow, forearm, wrist, and hand conditions, through nonoperative or operative solutions.
While he has a special interest in trauma of the hand and upper extremity, including bone, tendon, and nerve repair, Dr. Starr also frequently performs minimally invasive and arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow, and wrist. This includes surgery to address overuse or sports injuries, workplace injuries, arthritis, and nerve compression such as carpal tunnel syndrome. Dr. Starr believes there’s nothing more rewarding than playing an active role in helping patients achieve a full recovery from their injury or condition.
