My initial meeting with Dr.Machado was informative, pleasant and reassuring. I look forward to my procedure with him.
However, the PA Sean entered my room and proceeded talking without introducing himself, name tag turned towards his scrub top and never looked at me. He didn't have any facts correct when addressing my issue, looked at the lesion and said " they got it all" which is totally incorrect. I corrected him, at which point he read the path report on the computer. He said "this is pretty straight forward"-nothing about a Melanoma is straight forward. After several callous remarks, I again informed him of the correct surgery, the correct surgeon and the type of temporary covering Dr.Machado will be placing. He was certain they'd be doing the excision. He didn't need to speak about something he wasnt certain of, and pass it off as routine. Nothing was reassuring about his time with us. No introduction, wrong information and lack of empathy are not the way to start a visit.
