I have been coming to see doctor Spellman for a good while. My husband and I think doctor Spellman is one of the best ! I was in severe pain . I am sure because of doctor Spellman's care. My pain level was getting better. The amount of a sudden severe pain again, And again it just wouldn't let up. I had been going to my heart doctor because of Severe swelling in my legs and feet., Going to my lone doctor because I could not breathe., Go into my primary care doctor it just wasn't getting any better. One of my appointments with doctor Spellman, he said. Okay, this is it? We are going to run some pretty heavy labs. Doctor Spellman sent me for lab. Work , a lot of lab work. After the lab work. He sent me to see Dr Cabone , My blood work had detected I had a severe form of arthritis. The arthritis plus the eleven backsurgeries I had had prior to seeing doctor Spellman Was the reason for all the severe pain in my back. I am still with Dr Spellman

I believe he meant well. He seemed interested in what I was saying, but he changed my meds. What he gave doesn't work. I was up to 6000 steps a day but now I'm in so much pain it is unreal . I have arthritis, upper and lower back neck, arms and shoulder problems, not to mention I've had a hip replacement that still gives me pain and I haven't gotten to the rest of my body. He changed my meds and I don't think he read my charts. My objective is to keep moving but he shut my body down.

The poor rating has much more to do with setting up expectations. For the second time in a row, I made an appt with dr Spellman, both times I was taken into a room, spoke with the nurse and then the NP who both made reference to the fact that I would see Dr Spellman. Each time, after waiting for a period of time, the nurse comes back in and told me I’m all ready to go. Both times, I saw the back of dr spellman’s head sitting at the desk. If I’m going to see the NP, then that should be made clear. When I’m told I will see dr Spellman, I expect to see him. The first time this happened, I asked a question to the NP about other procedures that could be done to help me manage pain, she exited the room and came back and simply said “he said there is nothing else we can do”. He didn’t even have the courtesy to come in the room to tell me that. I’m considering not returning to that office. I did not make another appt as requested.

This was my first visit with Dr Spellman so I had a written list of questions. I was so so nervous because I didn’t fully understand the appt, but when he walked in the room his spirit calmed me almost instantly, w/such a caring spirit and being an active listener means sooo much, I was able to answer all his questions to the best of my knowledge, then he slowly explained everything in terms to my understanding, so I had no questions afterwards. I’m really feeling comfortable about all he recommended on pain and looking forward to scheduling my next visit when that times comes. Doctor Spellman was very courteous, listen to all my grievances about my pain. We decided upon Spellman doing my surgery on the 28th of May. Doctor Spellman showed me with images on where the problem was, the name of it, tell me what they would do, so it made me feel very good about the surgery, and about getting out of pain.

Dr. Spellman was very good. The nurses in the waiting room were friendly and efficient, but the guy who worked in a nursing home next to me had no visible mask on when I went by him and a slightly higher temperature, 99.1. I’m older with high blood pressure and so sensitive to Covid-19. My sister has it and struggles so with lingering side effects. Hasn’t been able to work as a nurse in a nursing home for five months.
