He completed his 5-year Otolaryngology residency at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA in 2006, and then completed a prestigious 2-year fellowship training program in 2008 at the Michigan Ear Institute in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

Dr. Artz is originally for Bloomfield Hills, a northern suburb of Detroit. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan and received a BA in Military History. He received his Medical Degree in 2001 from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. He completed his 5-year Otolaryngology residency at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA in 2006, and then completed a prestigious 2-year fellowship training program in 2008 at the Michigan Ear Institute in Farmington Hills, Michigan. After his 7 years of training he worked as an Assistant Professor at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He specializes in complex ear, sinus and skull base surgery. He also was heavily involved in medical student and residency training and education. Education and mentoring young physicians has always been a passion for Dr. Artz. After 7 years in Philadelphia at Thomas Jefferson University, he and his family moved to West Michigan and joined Grand Rapids Ear Nose and Throat. He operates and has privileges at all of the major hospitals in the Grand Rapids area, including Spectrum, DeVos Children’s Hospital, Mercy St. Mary’s Hospital, Mary Free Bed and University of Michigan at Metro Hospital.

I am very happy for what Dr.Artz has done for me. I can hear again!
Very informative and listens to and answers any questions.
We like Dr. Artz as a physician. However, this office is run very inefficiently and it is often very difficult to reach an office manager. We had a 9:30 hearing yet that we were called for at 9:47. Then we were scheduled to see Dr. Artz at 10:15. We sat in the wait f room for 20 minutes then waited in a room to see Dr. Artz. At 10:45, a full 30 minutes, I opened our door to let them know we were still waiting. It seemed then the Dr. realized we were waiting and came in. Again, just extremely inefficient. As someone with a child with multiple medical needs, I’ve seen my share of medical practices. This practice could be wonderful if run with some intentionality. Also, as a sidenote, even McDonald’s decorates for Christmas. Nothing says, ‘I dislike my job’ as much as an undecorated office space that people work in and have client wait in (for LONG periods of time).
Wish we could've had more time to go over some my concern but I know he's a busy doctor. But overall He's seems really good.
Always enjoy my visit.

Great Doctor
I've been a patient of Dr Artz for a few years and he is a great doctor. This trip wasn't as productive because of the change over in your system. My audiology appointment which has always been made at the same time as the doctor's visit didn't get automatically switched. And due to a phone number change on my end I never got the message. Or email. So I arrived expecting audiology with feedback from the doctor on the same day.It didn't happen. I understand the reason for the change definitely, but it would have been nice to find out before my appointment, after the original appointment had been made over 6+ months ago.
