After his 7 years of training he worked as an Assistant Professor at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He specializes in complex ear, sinus and skull base surgery. He also was heavily involved in medical student and residency training and education. Education and mentoring young physicians has always been a passion for Dr. Artz. After 7 years in Philadelphia at Thomas Jefferson University, he and his family moved to West Michigan and joined Grand Rapids Ear Nose and Throat. He operates and has privileges at all of the major hospitals in the Grand Rapids area, including Spectrum, DeVos Children’s Hospital, Mercy St. Mary’s Hospital, Mary Free Bed and University of Michigan at Metro Hospital.

I was with another ENT who couldn’t surgically get to a long time ear infection. He called Dr. Artz, saying, he was the best. He is, and he’s kindly taken care of me since. Oh, he cleared the infection on his first surgery.
Writing a follow-up review is a pleasure with this physician. The patient care. Dr. Artz gives is over-the-top. As a specialist, he combines precise knowledge, an unhurried bedside manner, and complete professionalism. When I present a concern, I know it will be addressed, taken care of... done. I do refer, friends & family to this Dr. without question.
Dr Artz was interested and concerned with my balance and hearing concerns. Had possible answers for my problems. I would highly recommend him and the practice.
Fairly cocky - basically said he could do a better job than the last doctor I had, Dr. Cox, who was in Artz’s same office & ranked one of the best in West Michigan. His attitude wasn’t selling the surgery he wanted to do that I’ve already had & it failed so he went on his way quickly. I think he was in the room for a minute & a half, after I waited 2 hours to be seen. Maybe he’s great, I don’t know but his arrogance wasn’t my cup of tea.
Dr Artz is knowledgeable, professional, patient and genuinely cares about his patients! He’s just the best in the business!
Dr Artz is awesome! He’s very caring, knowledgeable and explained the procedure in such a way that a non medical professional such as myself understood. Easy to talk to, which helps with medical anxiety.

Friendly yet to the point Knowledgeable and experienced. I took extra pains to see Dr Artz rather than anyone else. Office staff was also excellent - efficient and amiable
