I was unable to stand or walk for more than 10 minutes without pain due to spinal stenosis and sciatic pain. Dr Alvine did an A-LIF surgical procedure, and I can now walk and stand normally. In the office, he always takes the time to listen and answer questions. I am very grateful for his skill and expertise.

He was my 2nd opinion for spine issue and if I did not already have surgery scheduled elsewhere then I would have went here. He was great at explaining everything to me. Never made me feel rushed. If I get any issues in the future then this is where I will be going!!

Dr. Alvine has always taken his time to listen to how hurt/feel pain, allowing me to fully explain. He is very good at showing and explaining xrays, tests, results. I like that he is willing to try other forms of health w/o jumping straight into surgery.

From Dr. Alvine My father had a great influence on me. He was an orthopedic surgeon as well, and I had the opportunity to practice with him over ten years of the past 22 years of my practice. Over the years, I observed how he treated each and every patient as an opportunity to help them, which I try to do today.
About Dr. Alvine Dr. Alvine is a native of Sioux Falls and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Iowa in 1987. He received his Medical Degree from the University of Iowa in 1991 and went on to complete his Residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Kansas in 1996. Dr. Alvine completed Spine Surgery Fellowship at Orthopedic Physician Associates in Seattle, WA in 1997 and then returned to Sioux Falls to begin his practice in July 1997. He practices general orthopedics with a special interest in foot and ankle surgery and spine surgery.
Dr. Alvine specializes in minimally invasive and complex spine surgery. He also developed a passion for foot and ankle surgery after he practiced with his father for over ten years. Before his retirement, his father specialized in the treatment of complex foot and ankle disorders, with a special interest in total ankle replacements. Today, Dr. Alvine has a very unique and rewarding practice treating both complex spine conditions as well as foot and ankle problems.
Dr. Alvine has a wife and four children. He enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors, and aviation.
