I felt like just another number in the system, trapped by the inability to think beyond the obvious. The lack of initiative in exploring diagnostic options left me frustrated. I had to push for an ultrasound, something I believed should have been suggested by the medical team themselves. To make matters worse, the nurse attempted to schedule another x-ray before I’d even seen the doctor, which felt rushed and added to my frustration. It was as though they were just throwing tests at me without listening to my concerns first. In just 15 minutes, the ultrasound tech, Mel, provided more valuable information than I received from two different orthopedic specialists over three years. The lack of critical thinking and the failure to advocate for patient well-being is deeply concerning.

Taking the time to understand each patient’s unique symptoms, how those symptoms impact their daily life, and their future goals allows him to tailor his treatment plan and provide a truly patient-centered experience. It makes his day when he can help someone understand the source of their pain, advocate for them throughout the treatment and recovery process, and celebrate a successful outcome together. He is thankful to have the opportunity to help his patients achieve the lifestyle they desire.
In his free time, Dr. Roedel enjoys spending time with his wife, two children, and pets. Dr. Roedel enjoys cooking, hiking, camping, and cross-country skiing.
