Dr. Giovanni Taibbi, M.D., earned his Doctor of Medicine degree, summa cum laude, from Università degli Studi di Milano in Italy. He furthered his medical training in the United States, completing an internship in Internal Medicine and a residency in Ophthalmology at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He also pursued advanced training in refractive surgery through the Refractive Surgery Alliance Fellowship Network and completed the Physician CEO program at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

Dr. Giovanni Taibbi, M.D., is a highly skilled Cataract and Refractive Surgeon with a passion for vision correction. He is committed to training the next generation of leaders in refractive surgery by serving as the Associate Academic Director for the Refractive Surgery Alliance Fellowship Network. Dr. Taibbi received his Doctor of Medicine degree, summa cum laude, from the Università degli Studi di Milano – Facoltà di Medicina e Chirurgia in Milan, Italy. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, where he also completed an internship in Internal Medicine. Dr. Taibbi’s academic and professional pursuits include advanced training in Refractive Surgery through the Refractive Surgery Alliance Fellowship Network and a Physician CEO program from the Northwestern University – Kellogg School of Management.
Dr. Taibbi specializes in vision correction, including refractive cataract surgery and laser vision correction procedures. He authored book chapters and numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and developed extensive knowledge on the use and evaluation of state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging modalities in ophthalmology. He was deeply involved in the study of the ocular changes related to spaceflight in cooperation with NASA. Dr. Taibbi is an active member of the Refractive Surgery Alliance Society.
Originally from Catania, Italy, and raised in Milan, Dr. Taibbi moved to the U.S. in 2011. He lived in Galveston, Texas, until June 2021 when he moved to South Florida. He relocated to Venice, Florida, in September 2024. Dr. Taibbi has been married to his wife, Emelda, since October 2022. Together, they enjoy outdoor activities and spending time at the beach.
When Dr. Taibbi isn’t at work, he enjoys watching AC Milan soccer games and spending quality time with his wife. Dr. Taibbi is fluent in several languages, including his native Italian, Sicilian, English, and Spanish, adding a unique cultural richness to his personal and professional life. His dedication to his work and patients is matched by his love for sports and his commitment to making a difference in his community.
