Dr. George A. Lawson III, M.D., grew up in Aiken, SC, where he was valedictorian of his high school. He attended Wake Forest University and finished with honors. His medical school was completed at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he finished in the top 10 of his class and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.
Dr. Lawson is proudly a Double-Board Certified surgeon, recognized by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. His training includes a full General Surgery residency at Vanderbilt University and full Plastic Surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic. It was at the Mayo Clinic that he was nominated for the Mayo Brothers Distinguished Fellowship and learned the most advanced and up-to-date procedures in both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Lawson is a recent past President of the Medical Staff and recent Chief of Plastic Surgery at Medical Park Hospital. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters in plastic surgery, hand surgery, and general surgery. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the North Carolina Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Faculty of the American College of Surgeons.
He moved back to Winston-Salem in 2012 to join Forsyth Plastic Surgery. His practice focuses on a full range of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, and most of his elective/cosmetic procedures are completed at his in-office surgical suite – the Plastic Surgery Center of North Carolina. He enjoys golfing, fishing, cheering on the Demon Deacons, spending time with family and friends, and staying involved at his church.
