George H. Canizares, M.D. received his Doctorate of Medicine degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa, FL and served as the class president. Dr. Canizares has completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at South Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Coral Gables, FL.
Dr. Canizares is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery specializing in sports medicine, trauma and knee and shoulder replacement.
Dr. Canizares was selected to the NFL Neutral Physician Examiners Panel and served as the team doctor for the Miami Heat and Miami Sol. He is currently the Tampa Bay Rowdies team physician.
Dr. Canizares was instrumental in the development of the sports medicine program at All Florida Orthopaedic Associates and serves as the head team physician for multiple Pinellas County high schools and Eckerd college. He has also traveled with several professional sports teams as the team physician.
Outside of work, Dr. Canizares enjoys skiing, pickleball and family time.

In the treatment room… Would much appreciate better bedside manner, not feeling whisked through, rushed or fast talked through the discussion of my chart results during appointment. And explain in more detail what to expect post treatment expectations. The dialogue between The Dr and Assistant didn’t match up and I felt I had to remind and relay what was previously stated. Wanted to be more confident about my post healing stages. Overall very professional tight ship to a science.
Dr Canizares has been my “go to” ortho guy since I’ve been living here. Excellent physician and great personality. He tells it like it is, and we go on from there. Highly recommended.
