I had a broken wrist as a result of a car accident, the accident happened out of state and I had difficulty heating seen by a doctor because they didn’t do the original treatment Dr. McClimans saw me and began the care I received from him was excellent. Dr. McClimans replaced my right knee . I was walking 12 hours after surgery. It's only been six weeks ! I feel great ,No walker or cane after two weeks . The muscles are not only going back to normal but the muscle group is better then my left knee that was done seven years ago. I can bend to 120 degrees and it only been 6 weeks . I'm 64 years old . Recently, less than a month, Dr. McClimans performed an intricate procedure to repair my left shoulder. From start to finish, he displayed knowledge, professionalism, empathy, kindness. Since our initial consultation, Dr. McClimans took the time to listen to my concerns and answer all of my questions (a lot of them) thoroughly, explained the diagnosis and treatment options in a way that was easy to understand, and made me feel confident. On the day of the procedure, he and the whole team were prompt, organized, and reassuring. The surgery went smoothly. Throughout my recovery, there was always availability to address any concerns I had, and provided me with clear instructions for post-operative care. Great surgeon!

He rushed in told me that he might be able to fix my completely torn rotator cuff that was holding on by a thread, but that it might not work. So I got a second opinion and found out that I actually needed a complete reverse rotator cuff surgery. When I asked if he did that his physician assistant told me no he doesn’t do that. So he was willing to do a surgery on me and go through physical therapy and all that pain with absolutely no purpose. Dr. McClimans is a remarkable doctor with an extensive knowledge in the field of Orthopedics. I have entrusted my care to him for both my shoulders over the years and he has been extremely patient and caring in not only dealing with me but also my insurance carrier. It is rare to find a doctor who has empathy for their patients, especially for orthopedic non-cookie cutter problems. Dr.McClimans referred me to another physician for a second opinion of my issue, when I came back for my follow up, I honestly wasn't sure of the point in returning since I was referred out... but Dr.McClimans was actively interested in my treatment plan, listed and validated my feelings.. above all else, he showed care and empathy to living with a painful condition.. not many doctors show that care.. it was touching and I will continue to return for future issues.

Dr. McClimans is an excellent diagnostician offering a conservative approach to orthopedic pain relief. I appreciate that he does not rush to surgery or other invasive procedures needlessly, unlike other orthopedic specialists I have visited in the past. Instead, he opts to do an evaluative step-by-step approach best-suited to the individual patient's need for timely mobility and recovery from pain. If a surgical procedure is deemed necessary, he is the only orthopedic surgeon I know of who will do a simple arthroscopic "cleaning out" of the knee from debris, greatly aiding in the relief of degenerative arthritic pain, and in an effort to extend the life of the knee rather than immediately jumping to the suggestion of major knee replacement surgery. Dr. McClimans also surrounds himself with a professional, knowledgeable, and capable staff of assistants, headed by his proficient nurse practitioner, Leah Petit who is well-skilled in performing many in-office medical procedures as well.

Our in-office experience was great. However, insurance and medical imaging process is cumbersome, even as an RN/Case Manager. Patients discharged from the ED should be given a CD copy of their films at discharge. PCP office should make the appt for the specialist while the patient is in their office (then follow up with insurance for auth). It’s too confusing for patients /families who are already stressed.

My husband was seen today for his right hip pain. He was assured by Dr.McClimans that he did not need surgery and gave him a shot. I have the upmost respect for this doctor since I have been going to him for 9 years.

I thought I would get a cortisone shot for my trigger thumb, but the doctor suggested surgery and told me it would be a 10 minute procedure with a very small cut and everything would be working fine. However I had to set up another appt to do that. I found out that it had to be done as a surgical procedure and I needed an EKG before that, and another appt 2 days later to remove the bandages, and another appt 2 weeks later to remove the stitches. And online it said it takes 3 months to heal. Nope
