Dr. Frederick Fakharzadeh grew up in Teaneck, NJ and completed his undergraduate training at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology Magna Cum Laude. He went to medical school at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, followed by a surgical internship and a year of surgical residency at the Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. He then did his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the New York Orthopaedic Hospital of Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, followed by a fellowship in hand surgery at the Hand Rehabilitation Center at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He has been a hand surgeon in private practice in Bergen County since 1986.
Dr. Fakharzadeh is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS) and has added subspecialty qualification in surgery of the hand. He is an Assistant Professor at Seton Hall University School of Medicine.
Dr. Fakharzadeh joined Garden State Orthopaedic Associates in 2019 and has focused his practice on the care of conditions and injuries that affect the hand and wrist. He specializes in the care of fractures, tendon injuries, arthritis, tendonitis, and nerve problems of the hand and wrist including both surgical and nonsurgical treatment. Dr. Fakharzadeh is also qualified and trained to administer Xiaflex, an injection used for the nonsurgical treatment of Dupuytren’s disease.
Dr. Fakharzadeh has been an active member of a number of professional organizations and has held leadership roles in the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, New York Society for Surgery of the Hand, and American Foundation for Surgery of the Hand.
Dr. Fakharzadeh believes strongly in the value of non-surgical treatment, reserving surgery for those situations where there is no suitable alternative. He also likes to take the time to make sure that his patients understand their conditions and their treatment and provide explanations using straightforward terminology.
Dr. Fakharzadeh has privileges at The Valley Hospital, Hackensack University Medical Center, and Holy Name Medical Center.
He lives in Bergen County with his wife Patricia. They have 4 grown children and 4 grandchildren. He has a wide range of interests in arts and sports and especially enjoys being with his family.

Dr Fakharzadeh is the best hand doctor/surgeon. Besides the fact that he’s amazingly skilled, he’s a kind and caring person. He listens, explains and answers all your questions. Never rushes you. Over the years, I’ve had 3 very successful surgeries performed by him.
He is a wonderful,knowledgeable, skilled physician with a lovely bedside manner.
