Dr. Fleming G. Brooks, M.D., is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and total joint replacement. A Geneva County native, Dr. Brooks has practiced in Enterprise as a Southern Bone and Joint Specialists partner for the last twenty years, and he lives there with his wife, Lynn.
Dr. Brooks completed his medical degree at the University of Alabama School of Medicine (UAB), where he received numerous academic awards and scholarships, graduating magna cum laude in 1993 with a perfect GPA. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency training at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, where he was involved in numerous research projects and clinical trials, including some with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). While at Emory, he was elected administrative chief resident.
Dr. Brooks moved home to the Wiregrass to raise his family in 1998, and both of his children, Elana and Griffin, are graduates of Enterprise High School. Since returning home, Dr. Brooks has served as President of the Medical Staff and as Chief of Surgery at Medical Center Enterprise. He co-founded and built South Alabama Outpatient Services (surgery center) and is currently its medical director. He has served on the Alabama Regional Trauma Board and is currently a director of the Alabama Orthopaedic Society. Dr. Brooks is involved in multiple professional organizations and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, completing the initial certification process in 2000 and the maintenance of certification process in 2008 and 2018. He maintains surgical and admission privileges at Medical Center Enterprise, South Alabama Outpatient Services, Flowers Hospital, and Southeast Health.
