Dr. Firas El-Sabbagh, M.D. has been with FCCI since August 2019. Dr. El Sabbagh is board-certified in cardiac electrophysiology, cardiovascular disease, and echocardiography. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology and the Heart Rhythm Society. Dr. El-Sabbagh also serves as the Director of Electrophysiology at HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital.
Dr. El Sabbagh attended medical school at the American University of Beirut. He then completed his internal medicine residency at Cleveland Clinic and his cardiology fellowship at University of Missouri. He went on to finish his advanced fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at University Hospitals Case Medical Center.
He started practicing in 2012 after eight years of post-graduate medical training. He offers a full range of device based therapies, including pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD) and cardiac resynchronization therapy(CRT) for heart failure management, as well as catheter ablation for atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, including radiofrequency and cryoballoon ablation for atrial fibrillation. He uses advanced cutting-edge technology for performing ablations (minimally invasive procedures that use radiofrequency or cryo-energy to destroy or disrupt parts of the electrical pathways in the heart that cause arrhythmias).
Dr. El Sabbagh is dedicated to treating a patient as a whole and to deliver the highest level of comprehensive care. He works closely with patients to ensure that they have a clear understanding of their treatment plan, as it’s very important to him that patients are comfortable with the therapies he provides.
When it comes to electrophysiology, Dr. El Sabbagh enjoys the constant advancements in the field. “There is always new technology on the horizon,” Dr. El Sabbagh says, “The field challenges you to always stay up to date and use these advancements to the best interest of our patients.”
When it comes to patient care, Dr. El Sabbagh encourages his patients to be cognizant of their symptoms. “When you start to feel symptoms, whether this is palpitations, shortness of breath or being more tired than usual, see you doctor,” Dr. El Sabbagh says, “Don’t wait for symptoms to worsen as early intervention is very likely to prevent disease progression”
Outside of work, Dr. El Sabbagh enjoys spending time and traveling with his wife and two girls.
