Faraz Kerendi, M.D is originally from Los Angeles, California and earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. His general surgery residency and cardiac surgery fellowship were both completed at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Kerendi has practiced with Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeons since 2009.
Dr. Kerendi is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
His clinical areas of interest include aortic root surgery, minimally invasive valve surgery, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, endovascular treatment of aortic aneurysms, off-pump coronary artery bypass, and surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation. He currently serves as surgical director of the Heart Valve Clinic at Heart Hospital of Austin.
He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Heart Association, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery, European Association of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Texas Medical Association and Travis County Medical Society. Dr. Kerendi has received numerous research and teaching awards and published multiple papers in the field of cardiothoracic surgery. Dr. Kerendi was knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. He took time to get to know me as a person rather than simply a condition to be treated. He answered all my questions in clear language that a lay person could understand and is following up with a CT scan to get the most precise info he can. I left his office feeling the I was in very good hands.
