Dr. Evan B. Rhea, a board-eligible orthopedic surgeon, specializes in primary and revision total hip and knee replacement, anterior approach hip replacement, partial knee replacement, reverse shoulder replacement, and general orthopedics. A Louisville native and proud graduate of Trinity High School, Dr. Rhea joined Ellis & Badenhausen Orthopaedics in 2022. After completing his orthopedic residency at the University of Florida Jacksonville, he pursued advanced fellowship training in hip and knee replacement at the University of Louisville, with a focus on complex revision procedures.
Dr. Rhea remains connected to his community by supporting Trinity sports as a team physician when needed. He is a member of professional organizations such as the International Congress for Joint Reconstruction, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. Dr. Rhea completed his undergraduate degree at Transylvania University and earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine.

Great all around visit!
Very professional and knowledgeable person
Dr Rhea was excellent in my first visit with him and helped me make a plan for my knee pain treatment.
One word for this man, amazing.
Dr. Rhea is very caring and professional. He listened to all of my questions and concerns about my total knee replacement surgery, and then took the time to be sure that I understood the answers. My follow-up after surgery was equally supportive. I highly recommend him!

I cannot thank Dr. Rhea enough for treating me expeditiously and for not making me feel like a huge fat a$$ when he first met me. So many providers these days just go through a checklist our $hitty insurance companies make them go through instead of actually treating us. Dr. Rhea fixed me! He did it quickly and didn't make me run through a bunch of BS to get the best solution for my problems. I always felt like he had MY best interest at heart. Many providers can't or won't do that anymore. Thank you thank you thank you!
