Dr. Evan M. Vapnek, M.D. is a Board Certified Urologist and Kidney Transplant surgeon. In addition to being a founding member of Genesis Healthcare Partners, he is the Surgical Director of the Living Donor Program of the Sharp Memorial Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Program. He has been practicing in San Diego since 1999.
A native New Yorker, Dr. Vapnek received his undergraduate degree from the University of Rochester before earing his M.D. from the State University of New York, Health Science Center at Brooklyn. He completed two years of General Surgery training at University of California, San Francisco follow by a Urology residency at Downstate Medical Center. He then completed a two year fellowship in Renal Transplantation at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
He is a past president of the San Diego Urological Association and serves on the board for the Urologic Society for Transplant and Renal Surgery.
Dr. Vapnek is on staff at Sharp Memorial and Scripps Mercy hospitals. He treats all urologic conditions including kidney stones, enlarged prostate, urinary incontinence and has particular expertise in laparoscopic and robotic kidney surgery.

Dr. Vapnek was great! He explained everything thoroughly. He has a good sense of humor and excellent bedside manner.
The staff cancelled my original appointment. Then I received notice a week b/4 original appt date of 7-29-24 that it was changed when I called the office to confirm original appt. I then asked if they received my lab work. The lady said no but said she would call me back to confirm when then get it. No one called or emailed me. When I checked in today, on time, I had to wait just over one hour unti I finally saw Dr. Vapnek. I informed him of the long wait and he said it was because I arrived late, at 11:24 and not at 10:45. I told him I arrived on time at 10:44, never left the office, and at approx 11:25 spoke with the same receptionist who checked me me at10:45 and asked if they forgot me. It was at least another 20 minutes until I did finally see the Dr. All went smoothly thereafter. Raymond Schweizer
