Dr. Kim is an expert surgeon whose technical precision and knowledge regarding the best option to optimize my vision granted me 20/20 vision following a lens exchange surgery. Dr. Kim recommended the multi-focal lens that would be best for my eye shape, and I enjoyed a fabulous outcome from day-1. Nearly 2 years later, when I experienced a dramatic decline in visual acuity, Dr. Kim confirmed that scar tissue was the culprit (and this is not uncommon). Today, March 6, 2026, Dr. Kim performed a YAG Laser procedure, and my perfect vision is restored! Remarkably, I discerned improvement as Dr. Kim was completing the procedure. I highly recommend Dr. Eva Kim and I appreciate her approach to patient care that is meticulous, tailored to the patient’s needs, with great warmth and professionalism.

Dr. Kim was so kind and thoughtful with my procedure. She worked quickly and efficiently, but also took care to support my emotional well being with a caring touch on the shoulder or side of my head as she worked and offered a step by step of what was happening so I was never surprised. She calmed my anxieties at a follow-up procedure and assured me that I hadn’t done anything wrong. She softened what turned into a difficult experience and I feel confident that surgeons wouldn’t have gone above and beyond in these ways.

She completed her internship in internal medicine at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco. Her ophthalmology residency took place at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary before finishing her clinical fellowship in Uveitis and Cornea/External Diseases at the University of California, San Francisco.
Prior to her career at ICON Eyecare, Dr. Kim served as a comprehensive ophthalmologist, uveitis specialist, and Chief of Service at Northern California Kaiser Permanente. For seven years she also held the role of Lead Communications Consultant, focusing on elevating the quality of physician to physician and physician to patient communication and experience. For five years straight based on patient feedback, Dr. Kim was ranked 1st out of 258 Ophthalmologists in Northern California.
In 2013, Dr. Kim was elected to the Northern California Permanente Medical Group Emerging Leaders Cohort, a two-year leadership and business course led by professors from the most prestigious business schools in the United States. She also has over eight years of medical research and resident teaching experience and is a member of the AAO, ASCRS, and has co-authored many published medical chapters, papers, and posters.
